Accomplishments

Over the course of the few years I've existed, I've managed to (somehow) collect quite a few different personal victories/achievements. Here's some of my favorites.

Cyberpatriot

For the past 3 years, I've participated in the international AFA Cyberpatriot competition. This competition aims to teach and improve defense tactics in the cybersecurity field. The first year I participated (8th grade) I placed 3rd place in the state. This was a massive accomplishment for me at the time, as I had almost zero experience with any defense-related tasks, farther than basic linux system maintenance. It was because of this strong victory that I decided to continue competing.

Fast forward a few years to now. At the beginning of the year, I had the opportunity to join the prestiege team of our school. The "creme of the crop" if you will. This team is called C0D3R3D. With the help of the amazing members of this team (special shoutout to Alpha) we managed to place 1st in the state of Alabama, in platinum division. This was a very special event for me, and pictured above is a picture of all of the participants who recieved awards at this ceremony.

Choir

This last year I decided to join my school's choir program. I joined the "beginning" level of the choir, but I am hoping to move up to the top "chamber" choir next year. It's been an absolute blast so far (even with having to deal with the tenor section 😄) and being able to participate in such an amazing choir program (shoutout to my director, Tucker Ratcliff) is an amazing honor.

Small update 5/12/24 - I got accepted into the Social chair of the leadership team! I am extremely excited to be able to contribute more to the amazing choir program at my school. Big thanks to my director for selecting me for this position!

BIG update - I got into Chamber! For those who don't know, our school has 4 separate choirs. The beginning choirs (men's and women's choir), the concert choir, and the chamber choir. The concert choir is the "middle" choir, which serves as a stepping stone after completing the beginning choir course. The Chamber choir is the high-level choir. It's audition-only, and tends to have some of the most talented singers in the school. I am extraordinarily honored to have this opportunity, and I hope that I can prove to be a valuable member.

A little about me

Glad you found your way to this site! My name's Owen. Or Alex. Or Avery. Whichever you like 😊. I'm a 16 year old giga-nerd with a strong passion for FOSS software and cybersecurity. This site is probably going to house a whole lot of things in the future, including my resume, so please feel free to look around!

Here's some fun facts about myself:

  • My favorite color is green
  • I dualboot Arch and Windows

  • It took me an hour to figure out how to add those colors 😩
  • I know there's somethin' not quite right in the noggin, but I don't really know what. I am in the process of getting a psychiatrist.
